My Approach

What Brings People to Therapy?

We all go through times when we don’t feel quite right emotionally—whether we’re experiencing sadness, anxiety, anger, or irritability. When these feelings become hard to tolerate, they can lead to behaviors like avoiding people, lashing out, or turning to unhealthy coping mechanisms. They can also manifest physically, with issues like sleep disturbances or unexplained aches. While these symptoms can be painful and affect our relationships and self-esteem, they often signal that something needs our attention.

Just as physical pain prompts us to care for an injury, emotional pain invites us to explore what needs healing. Therapy offers a supportive space to understand these feelings and find healthier coping strategies.

What's Behind These Symptoms?

Emotional and behavioral symptoms can stem from various sources, including current life changes, past traumas, or future worries. Therapy provides a safe environment to explore these underlying causes and the parts of ourselves that may need care.

Why Therapy with Me?

Everyone's journey is unique, which is why I don’t believe in a “one size fits all” approach to therapy. I draw from various therapeutic techniques—like person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, and psychodynamic therapy—to tailor our work together. We’ll delve into what’s causing your pain and examine your current coping strategies. Some of these ways of coping may have served you well in the past but might not fit your needs now.

My top priority is to build a collaborative therapeutic relationship in which you feel safe and comfortable doing this important work. I know that opening up about yourself, especially with someone new, can feel really vulnerable. So you set the pace. Tell me what you're ready to explore and what you’re not, and we’ll go from there. You’re the expert on you, and I respect that. I’ll check in regularly to make sure therapy is meeting your needs and I’ll adjust as we go to ensure you’re satisfied with your experience.

Let’s work together to create a happier, healthier you. I’m here for you every step of the way.
